Show season has officially begun

The 2013 Taipei Cycle Show closed its doors last Saturday after a bumper run. The show saw 3,289 exhibitors and 28,022 visitors covering 58,000m² over a period of four days. For stats fans that’s an overall crowd increase of 10%. Taiwan has been considered bicycle capital of the world for a few decades now so Taipei Cycle may be considered the most important trade show of the year for the bike industry (Eurobike is indisputably the largest). The event is a prime opportunity for checking out new suppliers, building on existing relationships and catching up with old friends. To that aim, we held a dinner for a number of our international distributors who are vital to the running of the Dahon network around the world and it was great to see so many familiar faces.

The Taipei Cycle Show also marks the start of the show season for the industry and is a chance to unveil new innovations and models for 2014. Dahon was there of course, showcasing a number of high-end folding bikes for the discerning foldie fan. The Mu Rohloff Sport with Gates carbon belt drive and the stunning, matt white Vector P30 drew some great reactions from the crowds. Attendees would have also had a sneak peak at our step-through e-bike, Mu SL and Mu EX as well as updated colors and decals. You can find a couple photos from the event on our facebook page. It may seem a bit keen to be talking about next year already, but 2014 bikes get launched early so that orders can be placed in good time to have the folding bikes in store in readiness for that year. You’ll hear more about the lineup in the coming months but in the mean time don’t miss out on all the great models in the 2013 range. See if there’s a dealer near you.
