Professional MLB player Donald Lutz Turns a New Leaf with Green Pledge
Duarte, California, September 2, 2013 – Donald Lutz, the first German-American to play in Major League Baseball, makes a pledge to change his mobility habits with his new DAHON Jetstream P8 as part of the Turn a New Leaf campaign, a global initiative that fights against the rising threat of global warming and carbon emissions.
Lutz debuted in the majors this past spring with the Cincinnati Reds and garnered international media attention with his first MLB hit off of the Chicago Cubs and career homerun against the Milwaukee Brewers in May. In his breakout season, the 24-year-old had a .241 batting average with 8 RBIs.
Sporting his personal green pledge band, Lutz shares his thoughts about the environmental campaign, “I have been fortunate enough to experience first-hand the excessive dependence on big SUVs and pick-up trucks in the States. I think it’s great what DAHON is doing with Turn a New Leaf and it’s certainly something that I am happy to be a part of.”
Turn a New Leaf was publically launched during Eurobike, the world’s largest trade fair in the bicycle industry in August and is currently being integrated across international borders through DAHON’s global distribution network of more than 60 partners worldwide.
All participants who pledge to change their mobility habits on dahon.com will receive their own free pledge band – available for pickup at their nearest DAHON dealer. Each pledge also registers a pledge point for the user’s region that could help fund an environmental program in their area.
